About SHiFT
 
SHiFT proposes the creation of a transdisciplinary hub to address existing challenges in advancing timely societal transformations in the face of climate change. It includes the delivery of a plan of action-focused missions, initiatives, and digital content creation. The Hub comprises a core group of SSH transdisciplinary researchers and practitioners and their extended networks with a focus on unfolding the benefits of engaging with transformation in practice ideas across different social, political, economic, environmental, and technological contexts. Recognising from the onset that these categories have blurred demarcations in practice and exploring the nexus between these and their impact on different systems and regimes.

About the Lab

In an era marked by global challenges such as climate change, social inequality, and cultural erosion, it's crucial to draw on the wisdom of the past to navigate the complexities of the present and build a sustainable future. This Lab offers a platform for scholars, activists, community leaders, and practitioners to exchange ideas, share experiences, and develop practical approaches to address these pressing issues.

The Memories for a Sustainable Future Lab aims to explore the intersection of historical heritage and the climate crisis, fostering discussions and collaborations on how history and engagement strategies within the social sciences and humanities can inspire action for transformation.

The Lab integrates the Memory for All 4th Conference Memories for Sustainability, Territories and Communities.


Themes:

• Memory and Heritage Preservation: Exploring the role of memory in preserving cultural heritage and fostering sustainability.
• Communities identities and engagement: Analyzing how communities experience and address climate change
• Activism and Social Change: Examining how activism can drive positive social, environmental, and cultural transformations.
• Oral History and Engagement Strategies: Discussing the power of oral history and other engagement strategies in promoting awareness and action.
• Interdisciplinary Approaches: Emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration in addressing complex challenges.
• Public History: How Environmental History can be a strategic communication tool in raising awareness and promoting action.

Call for Participation:

We invite researchers, practitioners, activists, and students to submit proposals for presentations, workshops, panel discussions, and interactive sessions related to the Lab themes. We welcome contributions from various disciplines, including but not limited to:

- Political Science
- Education
- Art and Design


Travel and Subsistence Grants

The SHiFT Cost Action offers travel grants for 11 participants. The grants cover travel costs up to 400 EUR and a daily allowance of 195 EUR/day for the day of the event and up to 2 travel days. The reimbursement of grant holders is made after the event. Participants without travel grants have to cover their travel and accommodation.

Please submit abstracts (250 words) outlining your proposed contribution, along with a brief biography (100 words), by submitting this FORM.
