Archive of the Everyday for Kiruna
Descrição:
The ARCHIVE OF THE EVERYDAY for Kiruna aims to document and preserve the ordinary moments, routines, and artifacts of daily life - such as photos of personal objects tied to meaningful experiences like interactions, outdoor play, domestic spaces, and local practices, each accompanied by a personal story - that are often overlooked in traditional historical records, providing future generations with a nuanced view of life during Kiruna's relocation while emphasizing the mundane as a source of meaning, memory, and identity through collaborative co-creation with local communities.

People of Kiruna are invited to contribute a photo of an object together with a story or description, representing their own experience of the urban transformation the city is undergoing; local schools are encouraged to involve students in submitting their own entries and interviewing people from other generations to add intergenerational perspectives on cherished moments, routines, and memories, with contributors welcome to join an exploratory workshop in April 2026 in Kiruna to discuss and creatively visualize the gathered entries alongside international experts.

Context
This initiative is supported by the COST Action SHiFT Social Sciences and Humanities for Transformation and Climate Resilience (Ref. CA21166), funded by COST (European Cooperation in Science and Technology, www.cost.eu), and developed in collaboration with Kiruna Municipality and researchers from Politecnico di Torino, FCiencias.ID - University of Lisbon, University of Belgrade - Faculty of Architecture, and Memory for All/Memória para Todos® (HTC – NOVA FCSH/CFE UC).
