Resumo:
Eva Jonsson, originally from Västerbotten (Sweden), moved to Kiruna to work as a teacher and has lived there ever since. In this interview, she reflects on how life in Kiruna has changed since her arrival, particularly with the ongoing city❜s transformation and relocation. Although she describes the process as “strange”, Evan approaches the changes with optimism, emphasizing the importance of adapting and consciously trying to see the positive aspects of the transformation. She describes the rebuilding of Kiruna as a “paradise for architects”, taking in mind the unique opportunity to design an entirely new town. Eva speaks about the new residential areas, mentioning the close-knit layout and the convenience of having services, such as grocery stores and restaurants, nearby. She also notes that many of her friends are relocating to the new town. Finally, Eva reflects on what has been lost. She particularly misses the former theatre and cinema area. As a drama teacher, besides Swedish and English, she shared many experiences there with her students, making these spaces an important part of her memories of Kiruna.
